PVC FABRICATED DRAINAGE & PRESSURE FITTINGS

All Fitting Types Are Also Available In CORZAN® CPVC Through 12"

(14" & 16" Soon To Be Available)

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

All drainage fittings are manufactured from Schedule 40 material except in 18", 20" & 24" sizes which are SDR-41 material. Schedule 40 material conforms to ASTM-D-1784 and D-1785 while SDR-41 conforms to ASTM-D-1784 and D-2241. Drainage fittings are designed for non-pressure systems and all 20" and 24" fittings are recommended to have an overwrap of fiberglass reinforced polyester (F.R.P.) for structural integrity.

Pressure fittings are manufactured from either Schedule 40 material with a fiberglass reinforced polyester (F.R.P.) overwrap or Schedule 80 formed or are thermofused utilizing our new innovative techniques. Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 materials conform to ASTM-D1784 and D-1785 while the 20" and 24" SDR material conforms to ASTM-D-2241. All pressure ratings are based on 73 Fahrenheit.

CORZAN® CPVC fittings are manufactured from materials conforming to ASTM-D-1784 and F-441.

All fittings listed are belled end (unless otherwise stated) and designed for solvent joining. Plain end, flanged, as well as gasketed fittings are available upon request

SPECIFICATION FOR LARGE DIAMETER POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) FABRICATED PIPE FITTINGS

1.0 SCOPE

This specification covers requirements for Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) fabricated fittings intended for use in systems where resistance to corrosion, weather resistance, light weight, ease of assembly, long life or economy are of prime importance and where maximum fluid temperatures do not exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.0 MATERIALS

2.1 PVC fittings should be manufactured from pipe material that meets or exceeds the requirements for (Type I, Grade I), ASTM-D-1784 and ASTM-D-1785, while CPVC conforms to ASTM-D-1784 and F441.

2.2 Compound from which the pipe is manufactured shall have a design stress of 2,000 PSI at 73 degrees Fahrenheit and 500 PSI at 180 degrees Fahrenheit for water service as listed by PLASTIC PIPE INSTITUTE as well as requirements of ASTM-D-1784 and U.S. Dept. of Commerce Standard PS-21-70 as manufactured by HARVEL PLASTICS, INC. or equal.

2.3 Fabricated drainage fittings must be manufactured from virgin materials as previously outlined. Drainage elbows, 10", 12", 14", 16" and 18" are thermo-fused in accordance with the standards and techniques. All other drainage fittings are fabricated using the state-of-the-art cutting, chamfering and welding techniques as set forth.  All drainage fittings are manufactured from schedule 40 PVC material, except 18", 20" and 24" which are SDR-41. All Schedule 40 PVC Pipe conforms to ASTM-D-1784 and ASTM-D-1785 while SDR-41 conforms to ASTM-D-1784 and ASTM-D-2241. All sockets are tapered for interference fit.

2.4 Fabricated pressure fittings are to be manufactured in one of two ways. All elbows (10", 12", 14", 16" & 18" 90 degree. & 45 degree.) and 10", 12" & 14" tees are to be thermo-fused from Schedule 80 POLYVINYL CHLORIDE materials and pressure tested. Other pressure fittings are of fabricated nature (see 2.3) and are overwrapped with fiberglass reinforced polyester (F.R.P.) material in order to achieve the required pressure. To overwrap the PVC fitting, it should be cleaned of all foreign matter by use of a solvent compatible with the resin system used in the bonding step.A custom blend of polyester resin for utmost bonding must be used. Layers of chopped strand mat and woven roving are applied to the outside of the fitting. This material is saturated with resin and all entrapped air pockets removed. Gel-time and cure time must be monitored to specific time to avoid delamination. After cure, all parts are deburred and an overcoating containing an ultra violet inhibitor is applied.

2.5 All straight couplings are manufactured from either Schedule 40, Schedule 80, SDR-41 or SDR-26 material based on the schedule of pipe to be utilized. Reducer couplings (single step-example 10" x 8") are to be formed from Schedule 80 PVC pipe in a single piece construction. No welding or cementing is to be allowed in the manufacturing process.

2.6 Flanges to 16" diameter are of molded construction, 18", 20" and 24" are of formed construction. The hub is manufactured from durable PVC pipe in a single-piece construction, containing no cementing or hand welding. All flanges are Van Stone Style. 18" through 24" include a ductile iron backup ring with a baked polyester resin coating.

See Flanges for more details

2.7 Expansion joints are to be manufactured from Polyvinyl Chloride material with the expansion joint consisting of two tubes, one telescoping inside the other and has two Viton "O" Ring seals and features a third EPDM "O" Ring that serves as wiper to remove dust and dirt.
