Specification
Guideline
General
The secondary
containment piping system shall be complete and all components shall be
supplied from the same source to insure material and system compatibility.
The containment system shall be manufactured to allow for placement of
either PFA tubing or other appropriate piping systems. All components of
the containment system including pipe, fittings, long radius sweeps and
valve containment boxes shall be supplied by Flo-Safe, Inc.
Materials
All pipe and
fittings shall be Schedule 40 clear polyvinyl chloride (PVC). All fittings
are to be manufactured of clear PVC material which is marked NSF and meets
or exceeds all applicable ASTM standards. We further certify all fittings
are manufactured in the U.S.A. and have FDA approval on the clear PVC material.
The clear PVC pipe is to be extruded in 20 ft. lengths according to ASTM
D1784 and maintain IPS Schedule 40 dimensions and tolerances.
Joining Procedure
The containment
pipe and fittings shall be joined by solvent welding or FST compression
couplings, in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and installation
instructions. Refer to manufacturer's charts for appropriate cure times.
Consult the manufacturer for selection of proper cement suitable for installation,
environment and design. Joints shall not be disturbed prior to complete
curing of cement. Improper cement will cause joint failure.
