Introduction
| |
Advanced
Valve Technologies identified a requirement for valves and fittings which
could operate successfully in those demanding applications where users
have already recognised that epoxy, vinyl ester or polyester GRP piping
is a preferred selection based on exceptional performance, long service
life and competitive initial cost.
As a result
of its development work, the active support and co-operation of some of
the world's leading suppliers of resin systems, polymeric engineering materials
having excellent intrinsic strength over a broad range of temperatures
have been formulated. Various types of fibre reinforcement, UV inhibitors
and fire retardant additives have been incorporated to meet demanding environmental
and service requirements. |
 |
Significant
work has been carried out resulting in the successful modification of established
moulding methods to provide a reliable and consistent production process
utilising low pressure feeds.
All this has
been made possible through the continuous commitment of a multi-disciplinary
team representing composite material scientists, design engineers, computer
simulation specialists, metallurgists, production engineers, toolmakers,
moulding experts, machinery designers and valve designers - each making
their contributions from Industrial and Academic Centres of Excellence.
An intensive,
4 year programme has brought Advanced Valve Technologies to the stage where
an outstanding range of high performance butterfly and ball valves and
other fluid handing valves and fittings is being manufactured.
2.
Design - Disciplined Scientific Development
The
Advanced Valve Technologies development programme has taken some 4 years
to reach its present stage. Products with outstanding and consistent performance
characteristics can now be reliably manufactured.Professional
Market Research is routinely undertaken to determine the current needs
of a wide variety of industries where GRP pipe systems were being widely
used.
To achieve result,
inputs are obtained from University Centres of Excellence and the Development
Departments of leading composite resin manufacturers. With such help, resin
systems are re-formulated to obtain the acceptable mechanical and chemical
characteristics that can be processed using Advanced Valve Technologies'
advanced moulding technology.
| |
 |
Advanced
Valve Technologies' moulding systems depend upon careful process control
and good tool design refined by experience gained over a period of years.
Product design
takes advantage of the experience of the Company's technical, production
and sales management working with additional inputs from independent experts.
Operating characteristics are carefully defined. |
| |
State
of the art CAD/CAM facilities are used to optimise designs. Before proceeding
to the tool design stage, the performance of the products are computer
simulated and subjected to Finite Element Analysis to forecast operating
results and confirm suitability for purpose.
|
 |
Advanced
Valve Technologies maintains that development work is a continuous process.
The Company's management and its team of expert consultants continuously
evaluate new directions for development with the objective of enhancing
the performance of existing products and introducing new ones to meet industries
needs.
3.
Testing - Rigorous Practical Testing
As
a matter of policy all Advanced Valve Technologies' products will be individually
tested in accordance with test procedures laid down to meet stated National
and International Specifications.
In addition,
assembled products and individual components are subjected to rigorous
tests to identify acceptable manufacturing tolerances as well as limiting
operation condition.
To ensure consistent
quality excellence, key manufacturing processes and the manufacture of
vital components is carried out at the Company's new facility at Thanet
Reach, Kent, England. We design and manufacture in full accordance with
ISO 9001 quality standards.
| |
Only
the most reputable suppliers are used to formulate Resin systems for the
Company. Standard and proprietary components are sourced from suppliers
known to maintain the highest quality standards.
The Company
will submit its procedures for Approval by the appropriate authorities
as confirmation of the effectiveness of its systems. |
 |
Advanced
Valve Technologies maintains that continuous practical testing and corporate
dedication to Quality Control is vital to the development and production
of outstanding products.
4.
Products - Outstanding Product Performance
Advanced
Valve Technologies Limited is committed to the development of high performance
valves and fittings which are fully compatible with all types of reinforced
composite pipe systems. Products are, and will be, designed to offer all
the advantages expected from such installations - outstanding chemical
resistance; good abrasion resistance; light weight, low thermal conductivity;
etc. over an extended temperature range.
| |
 |
In
addition, products will, wherever possible, offer exemplary operational
performance. For example, valves will be designed for bubble tight shut
off, prolonged cycle life, low break - out torque - fittings will offer
excellent strength to weight ratios.
Both valves
and fittings are designed to achieve long useful service lives with minimum
maintenance and maximum ease of installation.
So far, product
designs based on glass and carbon fibre reinforcement of epoxy and vinyl
ester resin systems and Epoxy Novolac and Vinyl Ester Novolac have been
completed. |
Versions
of resin systems with added fibre resistance properties and improved pressure/temperature
performance are being actively developed.
Advanced Valve
Technologies is, and will remain, sensitive to customers special requirements.
Its technology is suited to the viable production of relatively small volumes
of high performance products as well as standard products. The Company
welcomes the stimulation of reacting to customer requests in addition to
its own seeking after organic growth.
