Polyethylene Heat Exchangers Offer Increased Heat Transfer Capacity, Smaller
Size and Cost Savings for Variety of Odor Control/Environmental Applications |
| TUSTIN, California, April
4, 2000 - George Fischer announces the expansion of the Calorplast heat
exchanger product line with the introduction of the new Gas Liquid Polyethylene
Heat Exchanger. The polyethylene material provides a 30% better heat transfer
rate per square foot over other plastics, offering the OEM and other users
maximum space-saving efficiency and cost savings.
Designed specifically for cooling,
condensing or re-heating highly corrosive gases, the new Gas Liquid Heat
Exchanger is ideally suited for applications involving condensation and
waste heat recovery of acidic components generated in garbage and biological
waste incineration. Other applications include re-heating stack gases for
plume reduction and odor control in meat rendering and composting plants.
Manufactured from durable, impact-resistant
materials including Polyethylene, Polypropylene and Polyvinylidene Fluoride
(PVDF), these heat exchangers are capable of handling gas stream temperatures
up to 280°F (PVDF). George Fischer provides custom-built units to meet
the specific heat load, gas volume and velocity requirements of the application |
 |
| All-plastic heat exchangers
offer a smooth, corrosion-resistant surface which helps control fouling
and incrustation, even in severe environments. The heat exchangers also
provide significant cost savings due to virtually maintenance-free operation
when compared to higher maintenance and replacement costs of conventional
alloy/metallic exchangers. A patented process completely eliminates elastomers,
seals and mechanical joints that might otherwise produce weak posts subject
to chemical attack, stress cracking and leaking. |

Natural Polypropylene Piping System Offers Cost-Effective Alternative to
Stainless Steel |
| TUSTIN, Calif.,
December 13, 1999 - George Fischer, Inc. has expanded its Sigma Natural
Polypropylene (PP-n) Piping System to include butt fusion fittings and
valves suitable for use with the company's new generation of Bead and Crevice
Free (BCF-n) fusion technology. The new PP-n piping system is ideally suited
for USP XXIII Purified Water and De-ionized Water Systems in life science
applications, and offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional stainless
steel systems. |
 |
| BCF-n, the company's latest
development of Bead and Crevice Free technology, allows Sigma Natural Polypropylene
pipe, valves and fittings to be joined without any beads or crevices on
the interior surface of the piping by means of an internal inflated bladder.
Outstanding features of the system include elimination of "dead legs" where
microorganisms typically grow, a smooth surface finish in the weld area,
low-stress fusion welds, high mechanical stability, reproducible fusion
quality, and an automatic welding process with label and print-out documentation.
The expanded Sigma Natural Polypropylene
(PP-n) product range includes butt fusion fittings and valves in dimensions
from 20 mm through 63 mm (1/2" - 2"). The complete PP-n Piping System is
offered in a full range of pipe, elbows, tees, flange adapters, sanitary
adapters, valves (manual and actuated), and custom fabricated components.
Manufactured from an unpigmented, copolymer polypropylene resin, PP-n meets
the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as specified
in the Code of Federal Regulations for criteria covering the safe use of
polyolefin articles which come into contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceutical
materials and potable water. The piping system is pressure rated at 150
psi when measured at 68°F and can be operated at 90 psi at ambient
temperature.
"George Fischer's Sigma Natural Polypropylene
BCF piping system offers users in the life sciences market a new, more
cost-effective solution over traditional stainless steel systems while
maintaining the critical purity levels required in these demanding types
of applications," said Jack Fulcher, George Fischer High Purity Product
Market Manager. "We're excited about this new product technology and the
opportunity to complement our existing offering to the pharmaceutical,
biotechnology, medical and foodstuff markets," he said. "As with all our
piping systems, users will appreciate our comprehensive fusion training
program which optimizes George Fischer welding technologies." |

SIGNET 2350 PVDF Temperature Sensor Provides
Solution in Corrosive Fluids Applications |
George Fischer, Inc. has introduced
the new +GF+ SIGNET 2350 Temperature Sensor, featuring an all-PVDF constructed
design capable of maintaining purity in aggressive fluids and offering
longer service life over metal-type sensors that typically require expensive
custom thermowells. The inherent properties of PVDF offer corrosion resistant
properties that are ideally suited for acid/base conveyance systems, HVAC
systems, heat exchangers and plating bath temperature control applications.
Designed for maximum versatility, the
unit features industry-standard 3/4" NPT threaded connections at both ends
allowing for easy interchangeable installation with virtually any |
|
| piping
system. Manufactured under ISO 9001 standards, the unit can be submersed
in process vessels or used for in-line applications with attachment of
conduit. Other outstanding features include an operating temperature range
of –10° to 100°C (14° to 212°F), an accuracy rating of
±0.5°C ±0.9°F and CSA, CE and UL listings.
Featuring digital signal output, the
2350 can be used in wiring distances up to 200 feet when connected to the
new +GF+ SIGNET ProcessPro™ 3-8350 Temperature Transmitter. The 8350 Temperature
Transmitter converts the signal from the 2350 Temperature Sensor into a
4 to 20 mA signal for long distance transmission. An optional integral
adapter allows integration of the sensor and transmitter in to one compact
assembly, allowing easy assembly and requiring minimal space. When used
with the 3-8350 Transmitter, the 2350 Temperature Sensor offers a complete
solution package for flow measurement requirements and ensures exceptional
repeatability and accuracy. |
